Historic County Courthouses Of Texas

In his Book, Historic Texas Courthouses, author Michael Andrews quotes writer and commentator Ray Suarez, who wrote that America's historic places carry the "DNA of Democracy". That's the best description I have come across that aptly fits the historic courthouses that stand in over 200 of Texas' towns and cities. Each building has a story to tell and represents a small piece of Texas history. For me, visiting one of these buildings takes me back to my childhood memories growing up in a small rural East Texas town, where the courthouse square was a hub of activity and fellowship. As I ride the backroads of Texas with my fellow Republic of Texas Riders, I try to include a visit to a different courthouse. This page will continue to grow as I make those visits "back in time".
